Ultimate frisbee solved interval timing decades ago, and it solved it with a voice. The rules make the defender count the stall out loud — stalling one, two, three, up to ten — precisely because the thrower's eyes belong to the field and never to a clock. The count arrives entirely by ear, the interval is enforced by voice, and nobody on the pitch looks at a screen to know where they stand in it.
Intertakt runs interval training on the same arrangement. It is a HIIT and Tabata timer built to be heard rather than watched: countdown beeps mark every boundary, a clear voice announces each interval and the halfway mark, and both ride over your own playlist with independent volumes for music, voice and beeps. The music never stops for the timer — the count simply arrives on top of it.
The screen is genuinely optional. Start the session, put the phone face-down on the mat, and it keeps time with the display off, on Do Not Disturb, in a pocket. An incoming call does not scrap the round: the session survives calls and app switches and resumes from the exact second it stopped. No restart, no lost work.
It fits the obvious circuits — gym intervals, sprint work, bodyweight rounds at home — and the quieter ones too: desk-break routines between meetings, stretching blocks, any session that trains in timed repetitions. Plans are plain JSON, easy to export and import between phones, and nothing about a session depends on connectivity: the timer is offline-first by design.
The accounting is deliberately short: 0 ads, ∞ sessions, 0 accounts. The free tier is unlimited and means it. Premium is a one-time purchase, not a subscription — unlimited custom plans, history and JSON export. Pay once, done.
