What is SightRadar?
SightRadar is a high-accuracy face recognition API built as a drop-in replacement for AWS Rekognition. It uses the same request and response shapes (CreateCollection, IndexFaces, SearchFacesByImage, CompareFaces, DetectFaces), so you migrate by changing the endpoint URL. Point the AWS SDK (boto3 and others) at SightRadar's endpoint and your existing code keeps working.
It is built for teams that need face search, verification and detection at scale, without AWS Rekognition's pricing. Find a person across thousands of photos from one selfie, run 1:1 verification with your own similarity threshold, or detect faces with confidence scores.
Key features
Drop-in AWS Rekognition replacement: same API shapes, change only the endpoint
Face search across collections from a single selfie (event photos, media libraries, photo delivery)
1:1 face verification with configurable similarity thresholds
Face detection with confidence scores you can threshold on
Photos with no faces return valid empty results, not errors
Per-photo billing, never per face, with no subscription or minimums
Privacy by design: GDPR-ready with a Data Processing Agreement, face vectors isolated and encrypted per account, never used for model training
SDKs for JavaScript (npm) and Python (PyPI), plus a Rekognition shim for Python
Who it is for
Event and wedding photographers delivering each guest's photos from one selfie
Apps adding selfie-based identity verification (KYC, onboarding)
Media libraries and DAMs tagging and searching people across archives
Teams on AWS Rekognition cutting their face-API bill without rewriting code
Pricing
Free to start with trial credits, no credit card required. After that, SightRadar runs on pay-as-you-go prepaid credits, with no subscription, no auto-renewal and no minimums.
Batch indexing: $0.00062 per photo
Real-time: $0.00093 per photo
Search by face ID: $0.00062; face storage: $6 per million faces per month
Migrating from Rekognition
Because the API mirrors Rekognition's operations and response shapes, migrating is mostly a matter of changing the endpoint URL in your AWS SDK client. A migration guide, API docs and an interactive playground are available on the SightRadar website.
Responsible use
SightRadar is designed for consented use cases: photo delivery to guests, identity verification and search within your own photo collections.
