## About cvATS

CVATS is a free tool that converts existing résumés into ATS-compatible format, built specifically for the Colombian job market.

Roughly three out of four résumés never reach a human reader. Applicant Tracking Systems parse incoming applications first, and if the software can't read the file structure, the candidate is filtered out regardless of how qualified they are. Most people never find out this happened. They assume they weren't good enough.

This problem is particularly severe in Colombia, and almost no international tool addresses it.

Colombian job seekers rely on three dominant formats, and all three break ATS parsers. SIGEP is the government-mandated résumé format required for public sector applications, built as a dense grid of nested tables. Minerva 1003 is a printed form sold in stationery shops nationwide that millions still fill out by hand or in Word. And the most common alternative is a Word template with multi-column layouts, text boxes, and decorative tables. Parsing engines read these as scrambled fragments or skip them entirely.

Global résumé builders don't solve this because they don't know these formats exist. They offer templates, which means starting from scratch. CVATS takes a different approach: you upload the résumé you already have, and it returns a structurally clean version that parsing systems can actually read, with your content preserved. No retyping, no rebuilding.

The tool is optimized for the platforms Colombians actually apply through — Computrabajo, Magneto, elempleo, and LinkedIn — rather than assuming an American hiring pipeline.

Three principles shaped the product:

It's genuinely free. No account, no paywall, no credit card, no trial that expires mid-task. Someone job hunting is often between paychecks, which is exactly the wrong moment to be asked for one.

Nothing is stored. Résumés contain phone numbers, home addresses, ID numbers, and full employment history. CVATS processes files without persisting them to any storage layer. This isn't a policy promise, it's how the system is architected.

It works in two minutes. Job searching is already exhausting. The tool does one thing and gets out of the way.

Beyond the converter, CVATS includes free labor calculators for Colombian employment law — severance pay, service bonus, accrued benefits, vacation days, and net salary — because the questions people have when changing jobs rarely stop at the résumé.

Since launch, more than 6,000 résumés have been converted. An ATS scanner that scores a résumé against parsing criteria before submission is currently in development.

CVATS started from a simple observation: people in Colombia were sending out dozens of applications and hearing nothing back, not because they lacked experience, but because their formatting made them invisible to the software doing the first filter. That's a solvable problem, and it shouldn't cost anything to solve.
